Thanks to all of you for your dedication to the community and your hard work at organizing such an affirmative gathering each year. I love your stories about swearing off taking on such idiocy each year and each year returning to the fray! Oh . . . and thanks for not once mentioning the 'M' word. I know it's my own personal bugaboo but it's encouraging to imagine some americans are finally starting to wean themselves off the unfortunate militaristic origins of the idea of playing these instruments together in the open air. I have 14 yrs of public school teaching, believe me, I know all about documentation. I encourage you to visit my personal website @ www.carlamoreno.com and read my blog postings. I do encourage you to view my videos with the kids as well. They are proof that music is happening in the most magical way with the most wonderful communities and people. The additional "Why Music?" videos are friends and strong advocates of MNS and I showcase them in their teaching artistry and/or musicianship even though they are not MNS fellows. This alone is proof that music is a powerful force and that most of us musicians are indeed making a difference through music....wait until you see my interview with Tower of Power...
